Neil Scrivener will guide you through the huge range of headstone styles - including the standard memorial, cross, heart, kerb sets, book memorials and more. Combined with a large choice of stone (including granite, marble, portland, slate, yorkstone etc), there's a very comprehensive choice.
Please view our brochures for the available styles. However, if you have an unusual design in mind, Neil is happy to create bespoke carvings to your exacting requirements.
Different memorials weather in a variety of ways. Hard stones such as granite and slate can be kept maintenance free for many years. However, stone such as marble, and portland and sandstones can attract dirt, start to perish and become rough if not regularly maintained.
First, the memorial is sanded back to its original smooth face using different grades of abrasive discs. Then to clean the lettering, Neil typically uses diamond grade hand pads, wire brushes and steel wool.
Over the years lichen and the weather damage memorials, degrading the stone, cement and lettering. We repair memorials to the highest standard, using stainless steel dowels which are drilled into the stone. Fixing rods can also be installed into the foundation and memorial, to make the structure stable.
When lettering needs repairing, all inscriptions are repaired by hand, using traditional methods.
